Javier began his career as a copywriter in a US Hispanic Agency in his birthplace NYC.
He’s worked in agencies in NYC and Boston, MA, prior to leading roles in some of
Puerto Rico’s most award-winning agencies. His career has won him praise, awards and
recognition whilst in agencies such as Lopito, Ileana & Howie; Foote, Cone & Belding;
Pentamark PR (agency he helped launch), and as VP Creative Director of BBDO Puerto
Rico by the age of 30. His entrepreneurial soul led him to start his own creative shop
which eventually evolved into his current agency which is now in its 1 th year of
producing award-winning, and results-driven work for clients such as Heineken, General
Mills, Honda, Clorox, Wyndham and Abbott Nutrition amongst many others.
Javier has been the Country Representative for the Cannes Lions International
Advertising Festival and ran the local Young Lions Competition for 22 years. He has also
served as a board member in the Puerto Rico Advertising Association and was
nominated for the 2017 Top Management Award by the Sales and Marketing Executives
Association (SME) of Puerto Rico.
He is currently the CEO/Partner and Co-Founder of both Oneightyº/FCB Puerto Rico
(which serves the Caribbean, LATAM and global expansion markets) and of the recently
launched Cientochentaº Agency which is primarily focused on the U.S. Multi-cultural
Market with its home base in Tampa, FL.
Married, with 2 kids and a great sense of humor which he attributes to his horrible golf
game.
